Last week, I shared with you how we were so excited to be hosting a party to celebrate the release of Cinderella on DVD/Blu-Ray – this new edition, the Diamond Edition, is a great DVD set and we were happy to invite our little prince and princess friends over for a party. First, though, we had to visit our local Walmart for what is called a “Retailtainment” Event.  It was so fun, and our Walmart (#2515, located on 40th St and Thomas Rd in Phoenix) did a fantastic job!

First, since Sarah was wearing her Cinderella dress to the event, Jeremiah had to dress up, too – so he wore his Halloween costume (a ninja).  I was really impressed with the event – there were (pretend) pumpkins to decorate, goodie bags, drinks, cupcakes, and of course, all the Cinderella merchandise you could ever dream of!   The kids loved decorating and I really appreciated the Walmart employees who were helpful and so polite to all the customers participating in the event.

We were so busy having fun that I completely forgot about the Royal Ball AR App, which you can use at Walmart to unlock more levels, costumes, and more fun things!   I actually remembered as we were leaving, but we had to head home – we had a party to throw!

We had the party the same day as the event, because it also happened to be the same day my husband left for Seattle to start his new job.  I was hoping it would be a good way to distract Jeremiah and Sarah, and it worked out great – we were able to see some friends that we’ll miss when we move, and have a great time watching Cinderella.  First, though, the kids helped me make our pretty blue cupcakes.

Once everyone arrived, we started the movie.  The kids were so excited for their Cinderella cupcakes and Cinderella movie!

We had a great time at the party – if you want to see more photos, you can check out our Google + album – you can see our “boy” goodie bags (though the boys could take Cinderella ones if they wanted) and what’s in the Cinderella bags.

I had to get into the spirit, too!  I don’t have a princess dress, but this ball gown worked just fine :)

This party was SO MUCH FUN!  It’s great getting together with friends and having fun.  I also loved watching Cinderella – during the party, I didn’t have much of a chance to see it, so the kids and I watched it again before bed.  I really liked it, and I realized that I don’t think I’ve ever actually watched it!  Now that we own it, I’m sure we’ll watch it more – I like that it’s a short movie (75 mins) and that Cinderella, even though she’s treated unfairly and poorly, always seems to have a good attitude about her situation.

Cinderella is so cool, she even has her own Facebook page, along with another Facebook page for all the Disney Princesses, and you can always follow Disney on Twitter, too!   Be sure to check out this new site, Disney Play N Explore, which highlights all the fun parties and Royal Ball AR app experiences people are having.
